Traci Jones joined the AAACRHSC team in 2020 to coordinate education and interpretation projects. Traci is a nationally recognized leader with over 10 years of experience in history, education, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Previously she served as project director of the Birmingham Children Defense Freedom Schools and Gallery Services Manager at Birmingham Children’s Theatre. Jones also served as Gallery Experience Manager of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and as a tourism and interpretation consultant for the iconic 16th Street Baptist Church. Jones obtained her Bachelor of Science in African American Studies from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is a nationally-accredited, certified interpreter guide for African-American history and culture and has facilitated leadership workshops as an A.G. Gaston Capstone Fellow.
